How we create your rug
Step 1. We will work with you to develop a design. This will typically involve a visit during which you and we will choose the colors for your rug and discuss the overall design. We will produce a design (called a CAD) for your approval. We may end up making more than one CAD as we work together to get the perfect design for your custom rug. Along with each CAD we will provide an estimated price; please note that while we strive to make our estimates accurate, accurate prices will be produced by the mill based on the CAD that you approve. Note that early-stage estimates will generally not include shipping.
Step 2. Once we are agreed on a design, we will send it to the mill. The mill will give us a price, based on the CAD. We will also have a sample (typically one foot square) made; the sample lets us verify our color choices and serves to preview the look and feel of the rug. Before we send the CAD to the mill, we will require a down payment. In very rate circumstance we may agree that a second sample is required; there will be an additional price for a second sample.
Step 3. Once we have agreed on any small changes to the CAD, we will ask for a formal approval, and then send the CAD to the mill for manufacture. The mill requires full payment (including shipping) before beginning to manufacture the rug.

Step 4. The mill will send us pictures of the completed rug. If you approve, the completed rug may be delivered to us for checking, or directly to you, or to a carpet installer of your choice. An installer is typically required only for very large or heavy rugs or for cases where there is much furniture that needs to be moved during the installation or a previous rug that needs to be removed. We will give you our best advice about the need for installing a rug pad or third-party stain proofing, but we do not perform or charge for those services.
